What I've come to realize is a lot of women will not give a guy the time of day unless she feels his value is higher than hers. A lot of women will make a quick assumption about a man's social status just by having one look at him. Not only that, but a lot of women are under this false delusion that just because they were born female they are high value by default. Nah, sweets. You have to have something going for you.

Women have very "special" expectations from men in relationships. I think it's the influence of Prince Charming/Knight in Shining Armor archetypes in media. Things that women expect from men that men don't expect from women: a car, a career, makes her parents happy, someone with good genes, money, manual labor, technical knowledge, an emotional rock, the willingness to pamper, and all kinds of other ish. Women evaluate us based on the service we provide, not the power of our love and commitment.
