An evil god is a flawed god, hence a false god. The true salvation is through your own deeds. By the way, no one is damned because of his reason or intelligence but many because of their ego (worshiping themselves) and their eagerness to satisfy their desires while intelligent people should understand that desires are NEVER satisfied in this earthly life (the more you fullfil a desire in this life the more you get sick of it!) so this pursuit is a dead-end!

The lord is thy shepherd. I believe that is the way it is stated. Meaning that Yahweh is a Shepherd and we are Sheep. Shave off our hair, Check. Fatten us up, Check. Sell us for meat when the time comes, Pending...
