Deleted from DVD, this scene expands the campfire scene where Pickett arrives, and provides a little more about Garnett, Longstreet and Pickett

  • where can you get the deleted scenes? In the DVD itself?

  • @civilwarcorporal No - they were only on a VHS Collector's Edition put out in 1994

  • This is an important scene. How Longstreet's family tragedy affected him. And the irony of Pickett's eagerness to fight; and was then destroyed. Should not have been omitted.

  • I agree. I liked him better as Pickett than Jackson.

  • Thank you for loading this scene on youtube ! My sister has been researching our family history. My great grandfather's last name is Garnett. We were so shocked to find that Richard B Garnett is a 5th or 6th generation cousin of ours. We are still finding out more info every day. I could not believe that a family member had been portrayed in a movie & we never knew it! Both of my parent's generations were the first to be born in the north, (in New Rochelle, NY and Pittsburgh, PA ).

  • Nice to see even a few more minutes of Richard Jordan. He was soooo good. Thanks!

  • @lomax343 saying it the way Longstreet said it doesn't make it "correct" even for an American. There are different linguistic pronunciations everywhere an saying it one way doesn't necessarily make it incorrect. I asked this before and had people from everywhere say it's just how your personal preferences go to pronounce it

  • Let's have some shad, George.

  • I'm glad this scene was uploaded. Seeing it, and especially Pickett's private conversation with Longstreet, adds greatly to the later scene depicting Pickett's enthusiasm at receiving orders to make the fateful charge on the third day of battle.

  • If you notice at the beginning of this movie, there's a Confederate officer that's the courier in Gods and Generals right after the battle of Fredericksburg.

  • This is a great scene that should have been left in, but there are a couple errors on the story about General Longstreet; he didn't lose all of his children - one boy survived. Also, the youngest child wasn't 10, she was just a baby. Still, I loved watching this scene and it would have added to the understanding of both his character and Garnett's.
