A review of the 1.1 and 1.2 updates to the NAVIGON app. My previous review was the initial 1.0 release. In the review I check out the new integrated iPod function, text-to-speech directions, route planning, and other new features, plus old issues.

  • I used it all weekend, and even with the needed features, this app still bugs the crap out of me. I really wish I could get a route overview so I know where the hell it's taking me.

Also, it's got an annoying bug where it won't tell you what side of the road your destination is until you're already there. Three lane road and it tells me my destination is on the left and I'm in the right lane. Yeah!!!

  • Why don't you just tap the screen and you will get a 2d view and can zoom in/out + pan. Also under options it will give you all the deatils as well. I agree with you and it telling you the side of the road too late, it's kind of silly that it tells you when you arrive and not 50-100m before.

  • I covered the limitations with the map zoom. No where in the app do I find turn-by-turn details of the trip. I can only get the start and end point. Check out my reviews of TomTom and G-Map to see what I mean. Thx,

  • Yea MICHIGAN

  • FTW!

  • Great video. I love this app. It works great. My favorite part is the speed limit assist where it shows you the speed limit of the road.

  • It is surprisingly useful if you have a lead foot. LOL

  • Does the app have the ability to specify the alert distance? Often times I find the gps tells you to turn but by the time you do the street is gone.

  • it costs 79,99 € or 119,99 €

  • text to speech is nice

  • or, if anybody can recommend me a better one that would be great.

i want to ONLY use voice to navigate. what do you think would be best?

  • does it say "in 100 feet turn right on main street" and then say "turn right on main street now".

can you set how long before the turn it reminds you?

because i want to get this so i can just use the voice to navigate, and it wuold be nice if it would warn me, 500 feet, 200 feet, 100 feet, etc so i can get ready and turn. (i would have the GPS in my pocket with headphones into my motorcycle helmet).

    please advise. thanks!

  • I found both Nav and Tomtom to be problematic, but I agree as far as Nav being better then TomTom.

  • They still need to update it to aGPS.

The antenna for GPS alone is toooo unreliable.

It doesn't work at all in cities and often loses the signal even in open areas.

I understand there is no way of putting a antenna as large as dedicated GPS units, but, the iphone should at-least have a antenna port for a external antenna.

  • is it difficult to get gps in a closed room? Is the gps reception better in the 1.2?

  • Can you input Coordinates on it? Please let me know. I'm planning to buy it if it has. I'm using it a lot.
