I went to HS w/Boyd. Great guy, but in those days a bookworm, classical music geek. To see him now as rock star, sex idol is really amazing! Talented in every respect. Smart, generous, funny. My father asks me periodically "When is Boyd going to start playing serious music again?" Uh, dad, I think he's pretty serious about this DMB thing :-)

Okay, I don't know anything about the music he writes; maybe he is an excellent composer. However, there is absolutely nothing good about his violin playing. There are so many violinists out there who have worked their asses off and have achieved an amazing level of musicianship. This guy is not one of them.

@tarheels4897 well you cant say that because art is subjective, yeah he doesnt have the professional sound that those guys have but music isnt always about how you sound, you'll never see Boyd play a beautiful peace of music on his own and bring people to tears and you will never see Jacsha whip some crazy solo out of nowhere

he is NOT revolutionary on the violin. He is a great guy and a good player, and is at the point in his life where he understands so much about the connection between music and life, but he is NOT revolutionizing the violin. He is nowhere near the greatest player of all time, even he would admit that. Compared to the Jacsha Heifetz, David Oistrakh, etc, or even Joshua Bell, he is not that amazing. People love him because he is a good part in one of the most progressive rock bands of all time.

Such a cool comment. How refreshing to see great information and great connections!

I wouldn't call him an extremely technical musician or anything, but his skills lie in his the music he writes. He writes passionate great music. I would call hima musician first, a violin player second.

NO he IS revolutionizing the violin! He is a bad ass player and his is by far the BEST, SEXIST violin player thus far. What other male looks this good as he plays, jazz, funk, and world? Listen to the intros he plays as Dave's belts out his chants, and tonings. Like in Vegas 07 "Don't Drink the Water", who else you know can pull that off while looking the way he does? Certainly NOT YOU!

is he? well, he's not bad, he catches the right notes and all that! BUT I wouldn't claim he's revolutionary on the violin... or is he? would be cool to have some more thoughts on this!

where or how can i get this theme music?
aldfjak 4 years ago 2
Which 'theme music' do you mean? If you're speaking of the song which comes after he says "when I was growing up...", then I can tell you I had the very selfsame question and posted it in two forums, but nobody knew where to get it or what it was called. I don't even know where this is originally from, to say the truth ... :( Thanks for watching, though
