There was a time, not so long ago, when science seemed to understand how the universe worked. Everything us, the Earth, the stars and even exotic-sounding supernovae was made of atoms which were all created at time-zero: the Big Bang. In between the atoms was nothing, a void: quite literally, 'space'.

But recently things have started to unravel. There is, it seems, a lot more to the universe than meets the eye. According to the best estimates, we only really know what about 4% of it is made of. But if only 4% is made of atoms, what about the rest? The rest is made of mysterious entities about which very little is understood, with equally mysterious names: dark matter and dark energy.

  • Great documentary - but the title has to be changed to -"Most of THE Universe is Missing" - since when do we have the right to claim ownership of the entire universe . . . that's probably one of our greatest faults - as soon as we assume ownership of something we set about systematically destroying it . . . it's not our earth nor our sun nor our solar system - there is no freaking ownership. Otherwise - I really enjoy the info.

  • A Rowdy Ronda favorite!

  • @12321johndoe Same. :P

  • Ronda!

  • "even children are made of atoms"... Yeah right, don't kid yourself :P

  • @MrSaad1932 lool, hitler and albert einstien. Maybe albert was responsable for ww2?

  • @GetMeThere1 most of it is made up as derivatives

  • OMG thats hitler beside that other guy on the left at 7:00

  • Dark matter is simply an abstract term for "we have no fucking clue"

  • Whats most fascinating for me about these super massive black holes is that they were first predicted by general relativity. Back then even Einstein didn't believe they could actually exist.

But then, using some clever detective work, scientists actually proved black holes are out there, and even though you cannot see them, through indirect evidence black holes without doubt, exist.

So Einsteins mathematics first predicted but now they have been found. Fascinating stuff.
