Five years have passed since Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) was sent howling back to hell. But now, a new kid on Elm Street is being haunted every night by gruesome visions of the deadly dream stalker. And if his twisted soul takes possession of the boy's body, Freddy will return from the dead to wreak bloody-murder and mayhem upon the entire town. When A Nightmare on Elm Street made a killing, horror fans shrieked for more. Soon the diabolic Freddy was resurrected with a vengeance - along with some of the most terrifying special effects ever to spatter the screen.

@25Robbo25 Part 5 kind of went back to the scary Freddy although at times it could get corny, and lets not forget New Nightmare definitely went back to the original format.

@PeyserConley Totally agree with you... I hated it how they turned him into a softy comedic pussy!! He was much better evil & dark like in the early films. They did the same think to Chucky the Child's Play films were great nice and evil & dark... then along came bride & seed which turned Chucky into a comedy, absolute crap!!

Why do so many hate two? Without two there wouldn't be a third movie to begin with. I prefer this over 3, 4, 5, 6, and remake. At least New Nightmare went back to scary Freddy again. Besides that 2 had the most deaths then any other ANOES and I really love the high body count approach. I wanted Jesse and Jennifer in three so it would of made a lot more sense.
