Bush is following orders, and the orders are, "Stay in Iraq at all costs!"
The main reasons are to protect Israel, control the oil, and keep the big profits flowing from defense and reconstruction contracts.
There are 14 permanent bases in Iraq, including 6 mega-bases with everything from fitness centers to Pizza Huts.
THEY WILL NEVER AGREE TO BRINGING THE TROOPS HOME!!!

If you watch the video of Petreaus correcting his statement its pretty obvious someone told him to change his answer. The corruption knows no ends.

The war is going badly because people in powerful postions don't want to disagree with Bush. This is a president who refuses to change course because he believes he doing the right thing. This is commponded by him being surrounded by yes men. I hope for the best, but the truth was and is you can't give democracy to people they have to want democracy.
