My brother's 1998 Toyota Caldina GT-T on the dyno.

Standard apart from a Blitz blow off valve and K&N panel filter. Standard turbo, intercooler, exhaust etc.

Made 160kW at the wheels (4WD). Dyno'ed at Gary Capper Performance, Auckland, New Zealand.

First boost was a test, second was full load in a high gear. Tiptronic mode used (buttons on steering wheel).

  • Hey i just read about your cold air intake that was done on this car. did you have to do anything to the fusebox to get it to fit? i dont seem to have enough room to get my pipe through

  • @TheVisser3 Hey, we did remove the lower plastic cover of the fusebox but once it was fitted it didn't really look like it was required so I didn't mention it in the DIY. If you're having difficulty squeezing the pipe through try and take that lower section off. It simply unclips from the bottom of the fusebox.

  • 160kw??? i was under the impression they were 190kw 256bhp stock standard????

  • @TheVisser3 They're 190kW at the engine, and 160kW at the wheels (which is the most important figure, and what is read via the dyno).

  • wow i didn't think this car was a 4wd

  • Edison19920- Some simple mods would be to fit an aftermarket exhaust with a downpipe to get rid of the cat converter and fit a good boost controller and set it to 17 psi but get all the fueling set up properly on a dyno also get a cold air box made for it and that sound give you about 20-30 more kw

  • Hi there I own this Caldina it gets about 8 or 9 litres per 100 km out of the tank which isn't too bad i'm not sure why the non turbo 2.0G is using more it might need a service coz my caldina went through alot more fuel when the oil was dirty for some reason.

  • what can i do to cardina engine to make it fater

  • Mint caldina, can i ask what kind of fuel economy the gtt returns? I'm driving the 2.0G atm, same year and colour. I get around 10-11 L/100km which seems pretty high for a non turbo
