@88salmaa Odette sacrificed herself so that the other enchanted swans -that were her ladies in waiting once- could become human again. The original spell was tied to Odette and, as she could not be human anymore, this was the only way for her to help them break the enchantment.

@88salmaa I think Rothbart tried to keep the prince and Odette apart but the prince defeats him. However, Odette's spell can't be broken because the prince announced his love to Odele so they kill themselves by jumping into the lake and drowning, but stay they together in heaven.

@Astrathiul First off, the original version of swan lake had odette live on. Second when you say she got shot by a hunter you may be getting the ballet The Dying Swan and this ballet mixed up. Both involve swans as by the titles!

@88salmaa No, she could become human if her true love announced his love for her to world, as the prince announced his love to Odele (the black swan) thinking it was Odette (white swan) Odette was turned permanently into a swan. She dies because she is shot by a hunter's arrow.
