- Det blev ett ja, ja jaaa, skrattade kronprinsessan Victoria när hennes Daniel berättade om frieriet ute i det fria. Det nyförlovade paret berättade vid en presskonferens på slottet om hur deras kärlek växt fram ur vänskap och om hur de förberett sig för livet i offentligheten.

Crown princess Victoria and her fiance Daniel Westling talks about their engagement. The couple have been together for several years and on the 24th of february 2009 the engagement between the two was a fact. Daniel says: Like everyone can understand this is a very big and important day for crown princess Victoria and me. And its with great joy we look forward to our life together. I will try to support Victoria as much as I can in her important work for Sweden. I hope that I will gain the trust of the Swedish people and I will do my best to live up to that trust.

Question: Why did it take seven tears for you to get engaged?

Victoria says: Sometimes, and for some people, it takes a while and we have felt that we need all this time. Now we know eachother really well, and I belive thats a good thing.

Question: How did you propose, Daniel?

Daniel says: It was a lovely day at Drottningholm, the sun was shining and I got down on my knees. I was nervous of course, I was hoping for a yes but I was not sure what she would answer.

Victoria says: And my answer was yes, yes, yes, yees!

Daniel and Victoria say that they didnt fall in love immeditly. They were friends at first and then their feelings for eachother grew.

Daniel says: We have a pefect chemistry.

Victoria says: With Daniel I feel safe and secure. And we have a lot of fun together.

@annapanna94 Jonas is a career-intellectual-upper middle class person (from Djursholm). To be "fit" into the "kingdom" system, they need people who "obey" the old-rules and protocols (perhaps someone like Prince Daniel). A modern-high intellectual person will be difficult to follow a boring-party-princess ...

Daniel is best without his glasses:) Hopefully a "marriage" is not a "pressure-must-to do" for a princess image and that they must have been really in love. Sadly, he had no academics/ intellectual background: just a businessman-loyal guard to the princess. Maybe this is what the princess wants ..... :))
