Ho Chi Minh City, formerly named Saigon is the largest city in Vietnam. It was once known as Prey Nokor, an important Khmer sea port prior to annexation by the Vietnamese in the 17th century.

Under the name Saigon, it was the capital of the French colony of Cochin-china and later of the independent state of South Vietnam from 1955 to 1975. In 1976, Saigon merged with the surrounding Gia Định Province and was officially renamed Hồ Chí Minh City after Hồ Chí Minh (although the name Sài Gòn is still commonly used.

The city center is situated on the banks of the Saigon River, 60 kilometers (37 mi) from the South China Sea[3] and 1,760 kilometers (1,090 mi) south of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.

  • im talking about financially and poliltically of course the nightlife is crowded because vietnam is overpopulated then malaysia and thailand. but vietnam need to be cleaner and have better laws on traffic and promote better project to attract more tourism.

  • @Vietnamemperor12346 vietnam already surpass bangkok and kuala lumpur my friend, night life in saigon is like new york city

  • @estienguyen2 really thats great! i hope vietnam will continue to further develop and reduce the poverty and corruption. I think its great to hear personally that despite that the country has changed the people are still as friendly and outgoing. This is because usually as a country gets more developed people tend to become more isolated and socialize less.

  • The city is very different now but the people is pretty much the same...fun and outgoing...love the food...the traffic is scary...maybe I just walk...when I go back to visit.

  • Nice video. Thinking of going there on holiday soon (from England), so you gave me some impressions to think about.
