A real look at the struggles of same sex attraction in the life of a girl who wants to know why the church treats her the way that they do. The response given is only part 1. Part 2 can be found here http://www.thelightswitch.net

  • Treat others how you want to be treated yourself.

  • @ketpiano The whole video was about what he said to her at the bus stop. I think it was made clear that both the sign-holding picketers AND the loveless Christian girl were both in the wrong... the Black guy represented the Jesus-like example of acknowledging sin, but also knowing Jesus' victory over it on the cross and in the Resurrection, empowering us to overcome our fleshly desires.

  • @julnbde There's more to the Bible than just the Gospels, and as a sin-natured struggler myself freed from sin's power by the blood of Jesus, I know the Bible teaches conviction to be a positive thing. I think some of commenters didn't get the point of the video, that homosexuality IS a sin, but that many people are in a situation where they are alienated by the church simply for having the desires while knowing Jesus well enough to resist them. Conviction and condemnation are not synonymous...

  • Believing you are a bad person because of how you were born is a fast track to despair and suicide. Asking a gay person to "stop being gay" is like asking a man to stop being a man. He can put on a dress and pretend, but it won't change who he is. That being said, even if you believe homosexuality is wrong, you have an obligation to treat people around you with respect, ESPECIALLY if they are in your church seeking fellowship and support. Nice rapping btw poster. :)

  • And most importanly get the heck out of that church and find a community of people who know Jesus, the guy who said he didn't come to condemn. If your church is peddling the heresy of condemnation (i.e. 'conviction') Get out before it kills you.

  • I would have said: stop trying to fight your sin it is finished. God is not counting men's sins against them, he will never be angry or rebuke you again, he loves you based on Jesus and his gift of righteousness, not anything you do or not do can change his love for you, it is for freedom Christ has set you free, so don't be burdened by a yoke of slavery, his yoke is easy and burden is light, if yours isn't then it's not from Jesus, we have one perfect sacrifice no more consciousness of sin!

  • Glad you're talking about homosexuality and loving people. HOWEVER, I agree that suicide is the only intelligent response to this kind of sin focused doctrine. I say this having lived for almost 8 years becoming progressively sin-conscious due to the puritinistic teaching of indwelling sin. I wasn't dealing with rejection from the church (because mine were more acceptable sins) but by the end of our time in a church that focused strongly on fighting sin, I was seriously considering suicide.

  • Great video! Those who proclaim Christ need to open there arms!

  • Amazing video, well done!

  • The problem with a video like this (and it is really well made and performed) is that you are asking a serious question, but not providing a serious answer. It is one thing to support LGBT - Christian concerns - but it is another thing to take action. You asked at the end of the song, what would you have said? So now I ask the makers of the video to answer that question.
