In 1985 a community college student from Harford County, MD was given an assignment. This assignment was to make a music video for a video production class. This student had 2 weeks to write, shoot and edit this music video. The student waited till the very last day before starting on his project. It was a simple idea so why labor over production and having to pay actors? This student said "the hell with it" and muscled through the assignment. The story: The student has to drive from Harford County, Maryland to Los Angeles, California by 5:00pm (Presumably in a short period of time...). The road footage would do most of the work and the classic 1979 Scorpions song "Coast to Coast" would be the soundtrack to this "epic" journey. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, deadlines and a budget that was spiraling out of control the student opted to just shoot in and around Harford County, MD rather than actually making the trek to LA. One important moments in the original Coast to Coast film is the climactic closing scene when the student pulls back in to Harford Community College's parking lot (the same parking lot in which he begins his journey) and declares via an over dub "LA...I finally made it.". I was told that during the original film the outboard microphone on the camera had malfunctioned and that is why the overdub was used. Awesome.

I am not going to lie, that student was my older brother Jamie. Unfortunately, the original VHS copies of Coast to Coast have been lost. I have been planning this sequel for 7 years, secretly plotting, planning and waiting for the very day to surprise my brother. That day was July 5th, 2010. Almost exactly 25 years later. I painstakingly tried to recreate every scene from the original. I even went as far as tricking my brother to be in the sequel without him ever knowing what I was up to. I incorporated 3 other cameramen on in this video. Ian Corey in Baltimore, Jamie Dove in Florida, and Ben Pranger in LA (Not including me and my tripod) I hope I did the original justice. We may never know.
