  • It is the vocal cords which control the breath. If these are used badly, then you will always be short of breath. If you use the cords in the most efficient manner, then breathing ceases to be an issue. It is an error of singing teachers to go on and on about breathing and support when they should be starting with the vocal cords.

  • @sarumsinger Thanks for providing that style of clarity to all my viewers. I absolutely agree with you and everything you've said. In my teachings I'm a great advocate for good cord closure and compression. However, I also know from the 20 years experience I've had teaching people to sing - and learning how to sing myself - that's it's also very important to breathe in a way that is more natural to the body and complimentary to maintaining ease of singing and good vocal health. (To be cont...)

  • Good closure is essential but if the breath is high, there is often force associated with execution. Thanks again for providing the opportunity to clarify my method of teaching. All the very best of everything to you, sarumsinger! Rae xx
