  • I will always love those guys! Thanks Royals ... and Yankees for the great rivalry memories!

  • BatmanFan1966 hit the nail right on the head. Where the hell was Frank White??? I saw this game. I was 11 yrs old. I could have sworn I saw Frank play in this game. And yes, where the hell was Darrell Porter??? Rojas & Martinez were definitely benchers on that Royals squad from '76-'78 squad. Maybe they were hurt for game 5. Pete LaCock was another one that's not seen if he was a Royal in '76. Pete's father was Peter Marshall, host of Hollywood Squares. Paul Splitoff was a Yankee killer.

  • One of the greatest rivalries in MLB history. In the ninth inning of game 5 Al Cowens was called out at 2nd base on a blown call to end the frame with George Brett in the on deck circle. Brett had tied the game 6-6 in his last at bat with a 3 run homer. We'll never know what he would have done, but I am sure the Yanks were glad he didnt get to bat again. I have always wondered what kind of impact Steve Busby would have had in the 3 series against New York (1976-78). He blew his arm out in 6/76.

  • Why dont they do these introductions every postseason game anymore? All the tradition and special proceedings are gone. So stupid.

  • He was but he did have pretty low on-base percentages throughout his career. He didn't walk much at all. I don't think he belongs in the HOF.

  • Wait, where's Frank White? Cookie Rojas?!?! Criminy, he looks like a manager there. Buck Martinez? Where's Darryl Porter?!?!?!

  • The Royals and Yankees had a great rivalry in the mid and late 1970s

  • @psu68born White hit at then Royals Stadium 410, Sanberg had the Friendly confines of Wrigley Field. Sandberg wouldn't try to make riskey plays to avoid errors, White on the other hand would try to make the tough plays. How many wind blown homeruns did Sandberg hit. We'll never be good again, till we get a new owner!! We have a stong young team now, so we have a window of 2-3 years. Once they can become free agents we won't pay them. Look at Damon, Beltran, and Dye, we wouldn't pay them

  • @ed2kou1 i agree with you on white maybe not so much sandberg however but the other royal i was mad at was Hal mcrae for the willie randolph slide lol

i hope the royals get good again it is a shame

  • @psu68born Yeah he won 7 gold gloves, he could field like no one's business. He had 2, 20 back to back home run seasons. He won the 1980 ALCS MVP. He's very underrated, while Ryan Sandberg is very overrated
