  • Hi. Do you know how often Toyota upgrades its navigation software? My 2011 Highlander (purchased Aug 1, 2011, built March 2011 in Indiana) would only give me the top 3 results when searching by voice. Also, by voice, the navi only allows me to search by address or POI category, and not by name, like, " search nearby costco gas station ". Very inconvenient when trying to find a location in an unknown area during a long drive. Only way to do it is to stop at a safe place, then key in.

  • @butipasila Toyota updates the map DVD typically about once every 18 months. However, the software in the navigation does not get updated. So the ability to search for locations by voice would not change with the map update. You would need to do the search by "nearby gas station" and search the results. The evolution of the navigation will continue. Toyota is now rolling out a new system, entune, that looks to be very promising. It will have much more flexibility with future updates to software.

  • @DigitaZen are you referring to the three parks "near here"? It shows a limited amount just based on what is near you. If, for example you chose gas stations and were near a lot of gas stations, you would have more results.

  • Why does it only give you 3 choices? Do they think people are that stupid that they can only handle 3 relavant results?
