Along time ago, Back when The Stolen Earth/Journeys End was aired on Televison for the first time, i was really pleased to see The Supreme Dalek return to the series. I loved the colour scheme, with his Red and Gold glory.
A few weeks later and i had completed my first custom, a Stageplay Dalek. I really wanted to do another, and had big ideas of doing some Planet Of The Daleks work in the near future, but i still wanted to keep the old tradition that i use of only using new series Daleks in my videos. There was only one thing to do. Resurrect the old Planet Of The Daleks Colour scheme.
Paints were again bought from The Games Workshop in Edinburgh, this time being a little higher in price due to me buying an Extreme Detail Brush, which brought it all up to £4.50. Another Dalek Supreme was bought from Forbidden Planet in Edinburgh, and as soon as i got home, work began, with the whole Dalek being painted black, one reason being it needed an undercoat for the Gold Paint to lie and another being that most of The Supreme Dalek from Planet Of The Daleks is of course Black. I then pianted where Gold was needed, on the Dome, solar panels, sensor globes and neck rings. The hardest i founf to paint were the Neck rings, Sensor Globes and the large struts found on The Supreme Daleks neck, because it was almost impossible to get round to the back to complete it.
This Dalek will feature in some future Planet Of The Daleks work, so look out for when he returns.....

BBC allows fans to make life-sized daleks as long as they aren't used for monetary gain. There's even a book on how to make a life-sized dalek and some videos floating around on the internet of home-made daleks.

I know. Theres a website called "ThisPlanetEarth" which are are a fullu licensed BBC company who build and sell Life Size Daleks, TARDIS', Cybermen Costumes and Helmets, K-9, Weeping Angels and other random props. Just google them to have a wee bash.
I'd love to build my own, but sadly i lack the skills, knowledge and money to do so. I started one ages ago, and got as far as making the dome and eye. I still have it :)

have you tried making custom imperial daleks?

The thought has passed me a few times, but the one thing that stopped me was gold, because, as you see in this video the gold is really thick and lumpy because it needed lots of layers. It will never happen now im afraid though, because all my 2005 - 2010 Daleks have been customized into a grey colour scheme like the Classic Series =]

@OwenDWF btw, do you have any ideas on what paint one would use for custom daleks?
you've partially inspired me to customize a dalek in the future...once i get enough money to pay for it though(CURSE ME LIVING IN THE U.S!) X)

Well, id use Games Workshop Citadiel Paints for it, but dont use Games Workshop paints for Gold. The Gold is awfull, as you can see in the video. Its too watery and needs lots and lots of coats.
