Here's the requisite, infamous "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"! Aren't you excited?

"TwinkleTwinkle" Variation A from Suzuki Book 1, transposed down a string. (key of D, instead of A)

  • you're "hooking" which means that you're moving your elbow back and forth. I can tell because you're bow's not making a straight line and your wrist isn't moving at all. What you want to d is stand in front of a wall so that your elbow can't move back and play from there. You'll notice that you'll have to move your wrist a lot more to keep the bow straight

  • My mother studied with Dr. Suzuki in Japan, and subsequently taught me the violin as a child. The biggest thing that she drummed into me was how important it was to "Put you elbow down" - And thus I was encouraged to imagine that there were a weight always pulling my elbow down; the idea is to let the natural weight of your arm create tone, rather than trying to muscle sound out of the string. Anyway, over-stated on my part; keep it up!

  • Go you! I started learning the violin at the ripe old age of 35. Am 47 now and still loving it. I started with the suzuki method also which was great. I am now doing grade 7.

  • :) thanks fer the upload...i'm done learning this one but i need more practice :D
