Discusses left hand fingering at 2:53 and illustrates and discusses use of left hand nails at 3:55-4:35. He uses left hand nail in same manner as Indian sarod players: fold the finger under and use the nail like a slide. It gives more volume and sustain than flesh.

Interesting instrument! The Oud has quite an alluring sound! Reminds me of when I first heard a Sitar.
