Every October, the little town of Chablekal, outside of Mérida (MX), organizes a Vaquería celebration that consists of 6 days of festivities to honor their patron saint, Ursula. During this period, people enjoy a daily mass at the local church, food, games, and a corrida (or bullfight), followed by nights out in the streets as everyone comes together in traditional dress to perform the Yucatecan jarana while the live band plays on and on. Everywhere you look, people, young and old, are wearing pristine white guayaberas or intricately-embroidered huipiles, donning ear-to-ear smiles as they greet their neighbors with a single kiss. All the while, a distinctive smell of corn tortillas or cheese-filled marquesitas wafts through the air and the occasional firecracker goes off to make sure that nobody falls asleep before the party is over. You see, Chablekal's nightly dance contest doesn't even BEGIN until 4:30am (!) and prizes might include a supply of beer or a new pair of shoes for the couple that is deemed to be the best pair of jarana dancers each night. The Vaquería at Chablekal: good, simple fun with kind, welcoming people in a town that is so visibly proud of its mestizo heritage.
Preciosa jarana lindisimo terno pero le falta porte elegancia y sonreir no disfruta la jarana en mi humilde opinion
