Riding a tower of flames, space shuttle Discovery punches through a fabric of clouds as it roars toward space from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida on the STS-128 mission. Liftoff from Launch Pad 39A was on time at 11:59 p.m. EDT. The first launch attempt on Aug. 24 was postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions. The second attempt on Aug. 25 also was postponed due to an issue with a valve in space shuttle Discovery's main propulsion system. The STS-128 mission is the 30th International Space Station assembly flight and the 128th space shuttle flight.

  • Hmm isnt this just a rip-off of the Nasa vidoe? Where is the original content?

  • Original content? This IS the STS-128 launch..

Unless you mean C-Band video, which I have, but am neglecting to upload.

  • my dad saw irt from jacksonville. I live in the midwest. I saw a bright star. Was it the shuttle? live in Omaha, NE.

  • You probably didn't see the Shuttle as it launched, it was probably the north star. If it was moving without blinking (quite fast, like an airplane), then it could have either been a separate pass after launch, or the International Space Station.

  • The North Star would be to the North, not to the SE towards Florida. Secondly the North Star/Polaris is not a bright star at all, its fairly dim..

  • Right, and I don't really see where he said "I saw a bright star to the southeast"..

Polaris is a bit bright around here..

  • Seen it launch from the west coast of FL, it was very very bright. Could see it all the way into space. Then tried to follow it with the telescope but it was moving to fast to track..

  • Yeah. I think I was mistaking. Hmm. Oh well.

  • Well I would assume he was talking about seeing the launch and not simply the Shuttle flying overhead. In the overall scheme of the things, Polaris is a dim star. No way could it be confused with the Shuttle. The Shuttle is extremely bright and has a very vivid orange appearance to it at times...

  • Nope too far away..

  • asombroso¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ lo vi en vivo se veia y escuchava chidisimo¡¡¡¡
