My name is Chuntae. I'm a single mother and have an 11-year-old daughter.

I have worked in the child care industry for several years, and along the way owning my own child care business became a dream of mine. I never had the money to make that dream a reality though.

Then I heard about YWCA Financial Empowerment. I went through the workshops, and they helped me think about my expenses more objectively as "needs" and "wants." By cutting some unnecessary things, like cable, out of the budget, I was able to free up some of my income to start saving for my dream.

After finishing the workshops I also applied for the YWCA's Individual Development Account program, so that I could earn matched savings from the YWCA to start my own daycare. With my savings, and the match from the YWCA, I was able to purchase the things I needed to get my home daycare up and running.

Words can't explain how exciting it is to have achieved my dream, and it will only get better from here!
