For my second Vivaldi arrangement, I only needed to rewrite a small segment of the solo First Violin part, due to problems transferring the distinctive bowed patterns to a keyboard instrument.  I also encountered 4 high F's in the Cello part that I needed to cover on the Alto Melodica (my Bass doesn't go that high). Unlike the arrangement of the third movement, I have here chosen to include the entire tutti First and Second Violin parts, making this a true 7-part piece. In addition, I have added a keyboard continuo with chords being played on the Alto Melodica. For this video, players are (from left to right): Violin Solo I, Violin Solo II, Viola, Cello.

The distribution of audio parts is as follows:
Violin I solo: Alto Melodica
Violin II solo: Alto Melodica
Violin I, II and Viola: Alto Melodica
Cello: Bass Melodica
Keyboard Continuo: Alto Melodica

VH, James

  • If you don't mind me asking, what kind/ where is the church you are inside of. To me it looks like a traditional Roman Catholic chapel, but I'm not quite sure. I realuze this is random but I was curious. You are amazing by the way :)

  • @SheepEl Thank you for your comments. This is a Lutheran church, where I am employed as organist.

  • Whoa! Did you seriously do all of that? That is absolutely amazing, I don't even know what to say. I love playing melodica (in a blues and reggae style), but you took what some people consider to be a kids toy into a whole other level. Absolutely amazing, I hope you are proud, I sure am :D

  • @fenix9885 Thanks for the kind comments. Yep I did this alone. It was fun to do and didn't take too long. It was easier than lots of the Bach pieces. -J

  • Genio!

  • What in the world are those things!!!!! Well, it sounds really cool! It almost sounds French.

  • Ingenious, a little narcissistic, very cool! It's a shame the lighting had changed a little on the leftmost frame, but you should be able to adjust that with a video editor.

  • Very very good and also hilarious.

  • best 3 minutes of my life i ever spent

  • C'est magnifique.

    Quel melodica utilisez-vous?

    Merci.
