TRC Bursary Awards 2009

TRC has been giving out bursaries to students from low-in-come families since 2000. For the year 2009, 120 students received about $25,000. This was double the amount given out last year. The objective of the Bursary Awards is to reach out to the under-privileged students and give them financial assistance to motivate them to study hard and excel. Taking into consideration the current financial crisis, TRC has increased the income from $1,500 to $2,000. This allows for middle income families to benefit too. Apart from this Bursary Awards TRC is also looking into providing other form of assistance to Indian families who are in need. More than 400 were present to witness the presentation at MDIS Unicampus on 3 Jan 2009. Awards were presented by the union leader of the Indian Organisation affiliated to TRC.
