  • Basilnelson: Baz, another great tribute. While Keeler was never oscar material - who over the age of 50 doesn't recall her name & parts in lighthearted movies/musicals? The main theme for this one is so melancholy & freakin great!

    I find I'm searching your vids almost more for the music than I am the star! You def need to market a CD of these great oldtime melodies with their titles, Baz!

    More than this! Just where *do* you get the great music backgrounds you post w/ these tributes?

  • Thank you Claudia. I place great importance on the music as it sets the mood and character of the subject. It can also inspire or produce an emotional effect, so the correct choice of music is vital. I am also aware of the copyright problems using vocal musical tracks so I avoid them as much as possible. I have built up a large collection of music over many years and with my two pieces of sound-editing software, I produce the many soundtracks that I am pleased you appreciate. BAZ

  • Beautiful tribute to one of the most underrated celebrities ever. Every single thing about her was just lovely: her face, her voice, her dancing and that wonderful smile. I can say I like a lot almost any cinema gal from the '30s (my favorite period for movies, by far), but Ruby certainly is on my top ten, and also has quite a huge and special place in my heart.

  • O yes!! the vintage Beauty of the 30,s speaks vividly in this video! and Ruby Keeler is a perfect and lovely representative of that era. What a

    Star in her own right.

    Thankyou Baz

  • She is truly one of my favorites. I always enjoy watching her films with Dick Powell. I have read some bio material on her and she sounds like she was truly a wonderful and kind person in real life as well. It's sad that her marriage to Al Jolson wasn't a very happy one, however.

  • @dia33386 Never Oscar material? The studio system back then was bias and corupt too.

  • Wow, she's beautiful. An imdb.com idiot commented that she couldn't dance or act. Man, the trolls there on that site. : (

  • she looks so right with dick powell...but in reality, she seemed to be married to old meanie gents all the time. what a waste on youth and beauty.

  • Al was doing this beautiful under rated babe. Lucky bastard!

  • That still is from FOOTLIGHT PARADE (1933) - it's from the "Sitting On A Backyard Fence" number;

  • Where she's dressed in white w/ the moon over top at 1:55, what movie is this from???Love to know if you have a chance..Thanx..

  • I saw a whole raft of 20's and 30's movies. Stanwyck grabbed me when I heard her accent. I googled her watched some more early stuff and fell in love. Ruby Keeler grabbed me too when she popped up. I just love the original women of the movies. I have no idea what went wrong in the 40's, but after I recall what it was like when I lived out in Hollywood back in the 80's it sort of came together for me. Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like the talent gets worse the more people who are auditioning.
