Yeah. I remember the local Toys R Us had it for people to try out & it was the first time I saw a Genesis game, and shit I wanted the system & the game. Didn't get that game till a year or 2 ago though. Great port of the arcade game.

They are pretty good in Japan, but now it's just crap. You seen the Bowser's Inside Story commercial?
-
@wtcvidman Yeah, I heard that N64 games could sell as high as 80 back in the day

I find it fascinating that this commercial can still spoof the stereotypical infomercial of today. "BUT WAIT! (enter additional item or function here)" must be an ageless ploy.

Now we can get Sonic for about 4 bucks on Xbox Live Market Place.

It's Mark Elliott doing the voice over for this ad.

i just want that wiener dog sweater

that was silly
Why aren't game commercials ALL like this?

The ones today suck. I really miss Atari's, Nintendo's, and Sega's ads from the 80's & 90's. I remember the one for SMB2 with all those people chanting Mario's name, the one for The Legend of Zelda with John Kassir (who voiced Buster Bunny & the Crypt Keeper), the one for Link's Awakening with the rapper, the Genesis Does ads, and all the other greats. My favorite was the 7Up ad for Pac-Man with Kim Carnes' Betty Davis Eyes song (it's on YT, check it out).

When it was new it was. New games always cost about $50. Sometimes even more, like some of the Phantasy Star games. I remember seeing Lord of the Rings for Super Nintendo being sold for $70 at Kmart.

There were some really expensive games like that back then. I remember Lord of the Rings for the SNES was $70 or $75 at Kmart. Phantasy Star IV for the Genesis was also at least $70. But those were rare cases. Most games were much cheaper and their price was lowered much quicker. I bought Link's Awakening brand new in 1996 (3 years after it came out) for $12.98. New Super Mario Bros for the DS is still $35 & it's been 5-6 years since it came out.
