im canadian and it was a beautiful launch...nice job, americans! that was a nice launch. Isnt it dangerous to launch at night because you can see the damage caused by the launch on the orbiter? i think they should launch more in daytime, for the safety of the astronauts.

Interest in extending the shuttle program has been shown (at the time by both presidential candidates, though now it's up to Obama). I think we should only because we basically built the ISS and we're going to have to pay Russia to take us there for 5 years? Blah, extend the program I say!

The next spacecraft that will be used is Orion, which will launch supplies and crew members for crew rotation on the ISS.

I remember when I was in third grade they sent John Glenn up on the space shuttle Discovery when he was 77 to become the oldest person in space and we watched the launch live in the classroom. I was a space nut even back then but my teacher was an IDIOT...When the SRBs started to burn out and then separated she FREAKED and immediately shut the TV off because she didn't want us to see the carnage. She thought it was another Challenger. :P The principal had to convince her that it was normal....
