This is a little walk through on how to add Seafoam through your intake on a 05-09 Mustang V6 . The main objective is to find a vacuum line that can feed all cylinders. On the new edge v6's i used the brake booster line but on the s197's the line goes to the very back of the intake as i can see. so it really doesn't seem it would distribute evenly. DON'T USE THIS...use another line like from the EGR valve....

The video explains what i did. Its my first real video so be nice haha. But here's instructions that you can read.... I grabbed a Styrofoam cup and cut 3 1/2 or so inches of the bottom to make a shallow cup and ripped a dip on one side so the vacuum line can rest there. Now, while running, use the top vacuum line for the EGR valve. place the vacuum line on the edge where the dip is and SLOWLY tilt the cup/feed the seafoam and let the vacuum do the rest. The engine may start to get a little rough but that's OK it its normal (DO NOT LET IT STALL as a result of too much seafoam at once). I used half of the can. My car had 100k miles so i used my own judgement. Once your done SLOWLY feeding the seafoam into your intake...Shut it off and let it sit for 5-15 minutes. Again i used my own judgement and let it sit for 10 minutes. After you let it sit empty the rest of the can into your gas tank and start up your car. It may be stubborn but that's normal. Let it idle real quick then give it some gas to keep the engine from stalling and you'll really start seeing all of that white smoke. Depending on how much carbon deposits you have will affect how much smoke you see. You can let it idle and give it some gas when needed or to see all of that white smoke =P

I just took my car out for a 20 minute drive to get rid of most of the smoke. It may take a bit to get rid of it all ( day or so) but its fine and normal...don't worry.

You CAN use this in your oil....I'm using it a week before my oil change. I put about half the can with my oil and the rest with my gas. So in total i ended up using two bottles of seafoam.

HOPE ALL GOES WELL AND GOOD LUCK!!!!

QUICK NOTE!!!! TSB 09-12-7!!!!!
I just had this problem with my window switch rattling...i will be posting a video up very soon regarding this issue. Apparently its all 05-09 mustangs not whats just listed in the TSB. so if you encounter this problem DO IT YOURSELF. Video will be up shortly =)

  • So, what if you have like 20 years of carbon built up in you engine? Will it take more seafoam to get it all out? I have a 1992 mustang gt and i know after 20 years the engine has to be completely caked with carbon...

  • @punchmaster123 Id say use seafoam once, wait a few months, and try it again. The first time should yield a lot of smoke, second time should yield noticeably less. After that a yearly treatment should be ok or at least that's what i follow. Pouring or sipping seafoam into the top end too fast (if you dont stall the engine first) wont do a great job cleaning out carbon. slow is key. it'll yield the best results.

  • What does this do exactly?

  • @SuperFamousBro Seafoam helps clean out carbon deposits and gunk pretty much wherever you decide to use it. Be it the top end, gas tank, or oil. It'll bring your car back to running like new =) if you have a lot of miles and you've never done any sort of this type of cleaning...do this correctly and you'll notice the difference.

  • So, do we have to listen to music while we drive around for 20 minutes?

  • @MrTDaddy1977 Yes its an absolute must! if you dont...the molecules wont adhere correctly to the gunk thats hanging around in your engine thus splitting an atom and creating a nuclear explosion of sunshine and rainbows. =P jk

  • @topnosxrs Cool! Them Imma do it and NOT turn the radio on. Lets see that nuclear explosion. Pffft Dumbass!

  • @vatossan my first suggestion would be to check all your vacuum lines for any leaks.
