Alternate Utena Opening--made for AMV contest

This was made as an entry for an AMV contest. The task for the 3rd round was to create an alternate opening to an anime using another theme song from a different anime.

I have to admit, this was made rather quickly. The deadline is 10/11/09, and I didn't have much time to work on this, so sadly, it's not my best work. We'll see if I can get into the final round with it though. :P

The footage used is from Revolutionary Girl Utena (clips from the opening and the show itself) and the music used is the opening theme from the anime RahXephon. The song is titled "Hemisphere" and is performed by Maaya Sakamoto. I highly recommend both series. :D

Also, the original opening for the show focused on Utena and Anthy, so I was kinda going for that too. Akio's LUCKY he made it in. :P

Although, I was SO tempted to have him flipping onto the hood of the car in this....just because.

Well, I didn't want to spoil things....and Akio really is kept a secret until the Black Rose Arc...and even then you don't learn too much about him. It's when his own Arc starts that you see what he really is....

Excellent as always. Great build up and great tempo matches to clips. I thought maybe Akio should have had a more prominent clip, but Im sure you have a good reason, lol.

I love this song--a lot of Maaya's music is great. She's one of my fav J-Pop artists. RahXephon is very Evangelion-like in some aspects, but it's a good series.

Utena is one of my fav series of all time. I just love it to death!! :D If you get a chance, check out my other Utena related AMVs.
