Here's a clip from the 1970s BBC production of "Anne of Avonlea". I picked one with Anne, Davey, Marilla and Gilbert. Watch out for Nicholas Lyndhurst from Only Fools and Horses playing 'Davy'.

  • Love this version. Kim Braden was brilliant in it. Megan F. was good, but not as good in my opinion. This version is more heartwarming. Thanks for posting it. Would love the powers that be to re-run the whole series. Happy memories aaaaahhhhh.

  • I would be really curious to see the first Anne of Green Gables. Too bad it's not available.

  • I LOOOVE when English people have crappy American accents. Makes me feel better about my crappy English one. . .

  • Well they must have been *really* crappy since they were shooting for Canadian accents.;-)

  • Yet another Anne film? Oh, but nothing beats the Kevin Sullivan version! The one with Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie in it is a classic.

  • this is bad acting....Anne is why over- ya lol

  • I like both versions. But then, I am a romantic! Plus I like to watch this one when a need a laugh. Their accents are so bad in this version.

  • nothing could beat Kevin Sullivans version of this... js :)

  • Sorry, but Megan Follows wins hands down. Her Anne was played with the "spunk" that L.M. Montgomery's character Anne had in the books. This BBC version does not even come close. As for the accents, well it is supposed to be Canada after all. L.M. Montgomer's stories were set in Prince Edward Island - named after Prince Edward - the 4th son of King George lll and father of Queen Victoria.

  • Kevin Sullivan wins hands down. This was probably great for its time, but watching it in 2011, it seems more like watching a play on tv. Meghan F. knocked it out of the park, as well as Jonathan Crombie, he was my first movie crush lol! Ahhh 6th grade English Class!

  • You couldn't be more correct.

  • Yes, she played Eulalie Bugle---so strange to see her as Marilla here!

  • Would love to have seen her dishing out the whaling.

  • Isn't the woman playing Marilla the same woman who plays the judgmental busybody on the Avonlea series? Mrs. Bugle or something?
