  • hmm a little bit strange playin such a funny song when the coffin is under the earth.. sounds like "hurraay! he is away at last!" ^^ ... but in another point of view its understandable. i like the way of new orleans

  • @sunzsu: It's an old New Orleans tradition and the thought behind it is: He is now in heaven and has it good, so why shouldn't we be happy and dance

  • @klikonojazz Do you happen to know an album called Liquid Ice, or could be liquid eyes? I heard this album some 30 years ago and it sticks in my mind. This you tube movie recalled everything...

  • @jjsluijs Sorry, I have no information about such an album!

  • does the song they are playing have a name ? if so what is it?

  • @fireforge21 It is the version of "New Orleans Function" as recorded by Louis Armstrong and his all stars in the 40ties! The first part is "Flee As A Bird" followed by "Didn't He Ramble"

  • @sunzsu - "Champion Jack" Dupree spent the last years of his life in Hannover, Germany. Some 50 jazz bands from all over the world marched behind his coffin.

A good way to say "Goodbye old friend"

  • zehr gut!!! suisse deutsch mit swing!!!!!!

  • good thing about this, when i die, i can hear some good music while going under the ground!

  • @DMAXCHECKER me too!

  • @sunzsu I like this way too. It's more a celebration of that person's life, and what they've achieved which I think is a more selfless way that mourning their passing and it all being about what you've lost.

  • So möchte ich das auch haben......

  • You have to celabrate the life of that person....and be happy for him because he's in God's hands now...

    No more suffering,lies or tears...

This is the way we should all leave our comunity

  • Wonderful stuff...as an English funeral director, I really appreciate this..and my big boy greyhound just sang along to the slower first part of the music so that's good enough for me!

  • Ever see "The Cincinnati Kid"? Features a remarkable opening credits sequence, over a glorious New Orleans funeral march like this. Whole film's quite remarkable!

  • @sunzsu , at least thats the way it was explained to me when i was little growing up in New Orleans.
