Julius Earl Ruffin Speaks at the 2009 MAIP Awards Luncheon

Earl Ruffin was sentenced to five life sentences for a rape and burglary that he did not commit. Earl was pardoned by then-VA. Governor Mark Warner in 2003 when DNA proved not only that he was innocent, but that a man convicted of a number of other sexual assaults actually committed the crime. His case was a catalyst for then VA. Gov. Mark Warner to start the Virginia Old Case Testing Project, which the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project is helping to lead.
