I swear to God. All those racism comments about this song being about racism are braindead. It's clearly about a woman that hewas in love with and spurned him in some manner and he killed her and regrets it. It's that simple. Seriously.

Let's acknowledge that Skip wasn't a protest singer like Josh White. In my entire Skip James collection, I couldn't find a single protest song. Every song of Skip's is about hard times or love. Skip may have been a good husband, but his music IS misogamist. Listen to the album "She Lyin'" or 22-20 Blues from "Devil Got My Women" and tell me he doesn't have a knack for this form of music. He isn't a protest singer, he sings about his feelings towards love.

Great Point indeed. This is the actually reason why racism still exists today in our great country. Evil and Ignorance at one end while we have goodness and stupidity at the other. God bless America!!!
