Farming a Legacy is a documentary produced by second year Broadcast Journalism students Vanessa Ybarra, Sonia Stirling and Caroline Carter. Their doc centers on the Davistead, a fifth generation farm in Langley, B.C.

Located in the Fraser Valley, Langley township and the Davis farm sits on some of the most agriculturally productive land in the province. Urban expansion and a proposed offshoot of the Mufford overpass threatens to lay pavement through a swath of Davis farm and places the elder Davis on opposite sides of a double-edged sword: With diminishing returns from the fruits of their labour, the selling of farm land to make way for the highway would provide much needed income and a way to keep the farm in the family. On the flip side, less aerable land would reduce the farms productivity and signal the end of the Davis traditional way of life.
