This movie was filmed on location in Avdat Israel. The ruins of Avdat, the greatest Nabatean city in the Negev, lie on a limestone hill overlooking the desert. The remains include two impressive Bysantine churches, a wine press, and many other interesting finds. The place is under the auspices of the Avdat National Park. Lyrics:
JUDAS:
My mind is clearer now. At last all too well I can see where we all soon will be. If you strip away The myth from the man, You will see where we all soon will be. Jesus! You've started to believe The things they say of you. You really do believe This talk of God is true. And all the good you've done Will soon get swept away. You've begun to matter more Than the things you say.
Listen Jesus I don't like what I see. All I ask is that you listen to me. And remember, I've been your right hand man all along. You have set them all on fire. They think they've found the new Messiah. And they'll hurt you when they find they're wrong.
I remember when this whole thing began. No talk of God then, we called you a man. And believe me, my admiration for you hasn't died. But every word you say today Gets twisted 'round some other way. And they'll hurt you if they think you've lied. Nazareth, your famous son should have stayed a great unknown Like his father carving wood He'd have made good. Tables, chairs, and oaken chests would have suited Jesus best. He'd have caused nobody harm; no one alarm.
Listen, Jesus, do you care for your race? Don't you see we must keep in our place? We are occupied; have you forgotten how put down we are?
I am frightened by the crowd. For we are getting much too loud. And they'll crush us if we go too far. If we go too far....
Listen, Jesus, to the warning I give. Please remember that I want us to live. But it's sad to see our chances weakening with every hour. All your followers are blind. Too much heaven on their minds. It was beautiful, but now it's sour. Yes it's all gone sour.
Listen, Jesus, to the warning I give. Please remember that I want us to live. C'mon, c'mon He won't listen to me ... C'mon, listen, listen to me... C'mon, listen to me... C'mon, listen to me... Listen, listen to me... C'mon, listen to me... Listen to me... Listen to me...

The above is propaganda at its best. I love the "er lifted" part. None the less,it's common knowledge that Googoosh errr, stole this from ALW-not the other way around. Nice try☺ ♫Ric♫
Cont from above. The original Broadway song never really made it past the other more popular standards this show turned out, which were, "I don't know how to love him", and the main theme of "Jesus Christ Superstar". Altogether of significantly lesser value to us than the one Googoosh, er "lifted" for her own holy masterpiece. Perhaps a little better research in the future would be in order. ♫Ric♫
Sorry to burst your bubble but here is an excerpt from iranian . com. Probably the best known of these is the fantastic 70's anthem, "Talagh". Did you know that the intro to Talagh was taken from the then not so popular Andrew Lloyd Webber's Rock Opera "Jesus Christ Superstar"?
The loop that the now famous "Iranian" song used, was originally taken from, is "Heaven on Their Minds" the opening number of this huge broadway hit. Disappointed? You thought this loop was all ours? Don't be! cont.
@BornOfOiris same with me, my mom just told me about it and i love it :DI love this movie so much I might even think about going into production, look out for jesus superstar 2025 lol
What a man! To my great regret I never saw him live - but every time I listen to him I feel a piece of heaven down here on earth. Carl's performance gave me compassion for Judas and the realization that me and most others are closer to Judas character than the good apostles than we'd like to believe. But he had a deep love and great remorse - the same stuff we are made of .......... Carl brought this out for me rather than reading the Bible. God bless him always.
