The original Broadway song never really made it past the other more popular standards this show turned out, which were, "I don't know how to love him", and the main theme of "Jesus Christ Superstar". Altogether of significantly lesser value to us than the one Googoosh, er "lifted" for her own holy masterpiece.
Perhaps a little better research in the future would be in order.

While he was a bit weak on some songs, Anderson OWNED this song -- one of the few guys who sounds like he left blood on the mike.

What a man! To my great regret I never saw him live - but every time I listen to him I feel a piece of heaven down here on earth. Carl's performance gave me compassion for Judas and the realization that me and most others are closer to Judas character than the good apostles than we'd like to believe. But he had a deep love and great remorse - the same stuff we are made of .......... Carl brought this out for me rather than reading the Bible. God bless him always.

I always thought Carl was the greatest talent in the 1973 Film. Sadly I don't think he got the recognition he deserved.
