Germanity Part 25: DATING - The Noodle - Comedy by Loriot (English Subtitles)

Germans are serious about everything. Especially about proposing to the person you're in love with.

In Germany, on a vital event like this nothing is left to chance. Time, place and circumstances must be stipulated cautiously. Every gesture, every word, every drink ordered, every story told, every compliment made is meticulously planned and must go according to the script in order to lead to the desired successful outcome.

In this clip, you will see an example of a perfectionist business manager performing (almost) flawlessly on his date with his wife-to-be(-or-not-to-be) in a nice local Italian restaurant.

I'm from Belfast, N Ireland. Lived in Holland years ago and saw Loriot on TV. A German friend, Fritz, translated for me, but much of lt hardly needed translation. Loriot is one of the world's great comedians and I thank you for letting me see him again - David

Of course that´s a parody about someone who is very unconfident + therefore arrogantly acting like the big shot. If all German were like this, i wouldn´t want to live here, many Germans are remarkably friendly - with lots of self-mockery. Loriot never wanted to spread prejudices about a country as a whole.
