An odd little game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, who also worked on the No More Heroes games. Praised for it's style, the game-play unfortunately suffers from the same dissociative identity disorder as the main character.
You play as a hit-man with 7 personalities. Each personality brings something special to table in terms of skills and weapons. You're sent into a building for your latest job. The control scheme is unlike anything I've played before, and the atmosphere is unsettling. Your character is on a rail system, so you simply press X to run forward, then choose which way you want to go when you reach a junction. When you come across invisible enemies, you press and hold R1 to go into 1st person mode, and perss L1 to do a scan so you can see who's coming at you. Reloading your weapon is done with the flick of the right analog stick. You also can't move when you're shooting. This adds tension as your foes start baring down on you.
There's also a puzzle element where you have to find objections and use them with other devices. There's also an upgrade system using blood you collect from your fallen foes. The blood is also used to heal yourself and perform special attacks, adding some strategy as to what you want to use the blood for.
So it all sounds great, but where it falls apart is that there's a lot of retracing steps, it starts to feel slow and tedious, and there's way too many load screens. Leave a room, load, go down the hall an through a door, load, down some steps, load, and through another door, load. You can see this in the video. I did shortened some of the load times, because some are quite lengthy when you consider how frequent they are.

  • 240p we meet again...

  • @wafflemale Alright. Well... glad you two could catch up.

  • woot?

  • @Fiffinono Sure?

  • the game looks like it had some really conventions, too bad the execution wasnt very well recieved

  • @SpartanLaser I think at the time it got a lot of praise. As someone that played it much later I don't think it's style was enough to keep it worthwhile over time.

  • @JerichoCross777 I don't think you understand what "no offense" means. Or here's how you would say it: No offense, but you're stupid. Do you see... do you see what I did there? Luckily I have no personal stake in your opinion, so no offense was taken.

And no, this isn't a game that I'm good at. I'm not sure your motivation for pointing that out, but thanks for taking the time to do so.

  • I personally loved the game. I am not sure why it gets "so much" hate now, I recently re-played and it felt as nice as ever. If the game would had came out a few months ago, I would still love it. The story, the style, the enemies. I was 13 or something when this came out, and I was really scared, so sacred I loved it. One of my favorites.

  • Reminds me a little of NMH......

  • @zezuntxiduntxi I didn't like it either. It wasn't a problem with the style or aesthetics, but the load times and back-tracking required slowed things down way too much for my tastes.

  • game for freak. DON'T LIKE IT.
