@sasktank What yellow effect? Have you heard of something like setting your white balance correctly? The only disadvantage of a CCD is vertical smear, which doesn't bother me as much as noise.

CCDs have superior image quality to CMOS. Manufacturers switch to CMOS though for several reasons. 1) Lower cost. 2) Faster transfer 3) CMOS consumes less power. So, no wonder that we now see common 5fps and higher with CMOS cameras. Anyway, I'd compare CCD and CMOS, like a gasoline engine to diesel, where the CMOS is the diesel. CCD is higher performance, but diesel has other advantages. When it comes to noise levels, CCD also have lower noise than CMOS. CCD's have vertical smear though
