PLEASE READ THIS - This is the trailer for the 1959 B-grade war drama, "Five Gates To Hell", which is set in Indo-China during the escalating conflict in that region. I have uploaded this clip to embed in my web page about that film:
http://terrororstralis.com/sheena/irish/films/gates.htm

The film was the directorial debut of the author, James Clavell. It starred Delores Michaels as Athena; Patricia Owens as Joy; Neville Brand as Chen Pamok; Ken Scott as Dr John Richter; Nobu McCarthy as Chioko; Nancy Kulp as Susette; and Irish McCalla, of "Sheena Queen of the Jungle" fame, in a brief role as Sister Magdalena.

One critic commented that one of the principal reasons to see this early "Girls With Guns" flick was the chance to see Miss Hathaway from "The Beverly Hillbillies", Nancy Kulp, weilding a hand grenade. That's her being held down on the bed by Patricia Owens while receiving a lecture about how "You've gotta use your sex!".

  • Wonder why this wasn't on MST3K?

  • Well, in 1959, I doubt we really got to SEE what these 5 girls were forced to go through! An off-screen suggestion, maybe.

Indo-China looks remarkably like Southern California, doesn't it? Somehow I pictured rain forests and the like. How wrong I was.

  • Well, the "busybodies" you refer to turned out to be the Catholic Church itself, who objected to the crucifixion of Sister Magdalena, played by Irish McCalla (see my clip, "Five Gates To Hell (1959) - Irish McCalla Scenes"). That's why we only got to see her hand. They may have filmed that scene, but cut it.

See also my web page about this film in the Irish McCalla Tribute on my website. It has a lot of background information about the film. The link is in the Youtube "more info" section.

  • Welp. Here's one more flick Ize got to see.

    Thanks, pwgr2000.
