(I live in Norway) but now at last the local outdoor-speedskating longtrack is ready! I will be racing 2 races this week (Risaløpet and Maierløpet), the week after i will be racing in the Vikingskipet (Hamar lekene). I've trained hard (have been sick some time now) and hope to set some new personal best.
-Have a good time in Mexico (I check your blog every day for anything new, did you hear about Håvard Bøkko's first gold in the World Cup?).

Yes, sometimes I and some other skaters have to skate in a local Hockey rink, it's ok, but you can't skate maximum speed. once I did and and suddenly fell in the swing and hit the wall and one of the skate blades injured me (not fun). And if it's some mispellings in this comment I must apologize,

well, I was worried about hitting the wall (you can really hurt yourself if the impact jabs your skate blades into you). The rink was about the size of 3 hockey rinks, so I do slide some distance.
it was cold, but the crowd was so loud, I did not really feel it. The camera microphone was some distance from the crowd, so the sound track does not really reflect the reality.
