Thank you so much for posting this video. I found my great grandfather in frame 1:15. I never saw him alive, so this was very special to see him move, if only briefly. Where can I get copies of this?

the era wasn't kind to the veterans, glorifying the nightmare of 1861-65 was more important then remembering the why? Looking at these men I often wonder just how many were still fighting the war 75 years later, wrestling with the memories of 4 years of hell, 4 years of watching their friends die in their arms, ripped apart by cannon and rifle fire, regrets about choices made. I often wonder how many of these men wanted to tell the truth but society at the time didn't want to listen. Never Again

Thank you for posting this. I have so many ancestors that fought for the Union throughout the war. One died in Andersonville, but the remainder survived and fought in nearly every major engagement including Gettysburg. One unit, with which one of these men was with, was the 14th Vermont Regiment of Volunteers. Sadly, this unit never gets credit for the flanking maneuver they performed on Cemetery Ridge, yet Southern diaries reveal that it was this maneuver on their right that finally broke them.
