I read somewhere that during a radio test a driver hit 235 on daytona or talledega (cant remember) but no official timing was done. This was without the restrictor plate of course.
Rusty Wallace did it with the COT about 3 years ago at Talladega and topped out at 232 I believe, and he said he could've gone even faster than that...just think of how fast he would've gone had he been in the draft with some other cars.
