@luminaire42 Since I wrote that comment, I saw switchfoot too :) They came to the Netherlands about a year ago. I didn't talk to them or anything, just the concert, but wow they were amazing! I love switchfoot :)

@MCmirrr I've seen Switchfoot live a think 3 or 4 times, years ago. I was at the Seattle Showbox in 2005, maybe 06 when they first played Beautiful Meltdown, one of my favorites. They are family friends to someone I used to go church with, when I went to church. Hung out briefly with the bassist and met his brother, the singer, on one occasion. I thought those guys were pretty creative and classy back then. Haven't really been into their music or my churchies in the last several years, however.

Just to give this some context, the preceding song was "I'm Alright", which has a choir in the studio version. They transitioned from one song into the other without a break, so the choir hung around for the next song. I realize that doesn't make the choir sound right to you, and that's OK, but that at least explains why they're there.
