Hi. This looks good - could you tell me how to make the marble/gesso mix please? Thanks.

Where do you get marble dust? I want to try this surface for pastels.

I have been using prepared board for pastel for a while and really like having the firm support but I still haven't come up with a good way to frame the finished painting. What do you do with your board painting to display it once it is finished?
Thanks!

Liquitex makes "Clear Acrylic Gesso" for all mediums. It has a grainy feel to it, adds alot of texture, but I don;t think it can be used on thin paper. I use it alot.
I also love Colorfix, you can buy the paper already prepared or buy the liquid version to make your own on any support

Hi, sure, but test out the surface before you begin a project in oils....you may not like the surface...I usually just apply straight gesso without the marbledust for an oil painting. Pastel needs the texture of the marble dust to hold the pigments, but oils doesn't. Happy New Years...Please subscribe, I am coming out with more videos on pastels and drawing.

can you paint over wood paneling

I had never tried it, but, if its smooth, the gesso and marble dust surface should create a nice surface to paint on....try a small piece, see what happens, and let me know.

Hi Gary, Thanks for the encouraging post. I am glad that you enjoy the surface, I love how the texture feels like bone....also, try using ground pumice in place of the marbledust, for a more gritty feel. Take Care-----Timothy
