One important thing missing: I just saved a kid from the ice last week. And the important thing to remember when you have fallen in (I also fell in), is to not waste your energy by trying to get up on weak ice. Look for the shortest distance to land or where you think ice is stronger, then crush the ice with your elbows (or by leaning on it) to get yourself over there. Then get up.

As a former Coast Guard member trained in ice rescue I approve of this video.

He did everything right. My only discrepancy is at the 4:57 mark with the rescuer telling the victim how to get of the ice. If your going to approach a victim who has fallen through the ice you need to be crawling to him and once there, stay flat on your stomach. Then you can talk the victim out. If you walk towards him you may end up in the ice yourself. Weight distribution is key.
