Back in the day there was a storm brewing in North Minneapolis. That storm exploded onto the world--it was a musical explosion and its influence can be heard in music to this day.
On May 23rd, 2011 a different kind of storm ripped through that very same neighborhood in North Minneapolis. In its wake an event was conceived in conjunction with The Urban League's "Family Day" called Arms Around The Northside to benefit the people in the neighborhood. We called André Cymone and asked if he would come. His answer, "Whatever you need, i will be there"
In the spirit of the Block Parties that started a lot of the music we have all come to know and love, André got together members of the original Grand Central band and members from the band that went on from Minneapolis to tour the world and they played as they had done years before. here is a little bit of the party on stage.
