Nicely done and very informative clip. Although I'm not quite sure who is the target audience here. The gun owners and supporters of 2nd amendment already know all this, and liberals aren't gonna watch this, so the guy is really wasting his time here. It's like trying to educate neocons about the importance of universal health care.
As far as I know the only US legal FA AK's are the ones that US soldiers declared and brought back after the Vietnam war. These are far and few and fetch upwards of $8-10,000USD or more are heavily regulated by the BATFE and although obtainable ocassionally, given their kings ransom asking price are out of reach of the vast majority of shooters. There are however, fine quality semi-autos with milled receivers such as arsenal AK's and Polish made AK's. These usually go for $650-800USD.
And I do suggest that you keep them if you own one because their values have skyrocketed, especially if they have milled receivers. If they have a milled Russian made receiver they can be worth upwards of $1000 USD or more. The new, legally imported semi-auto AK's are made in Yugoslavia, Romania, and Bulgaria, have US made stamped receivers and barrels as I stated earlier and are decent but of lesser quality. They cannot be converted to full-auto,however a trigger mounted "burst' device is legal.
@ericr530 It was a good discussion.Glad that you comprehend what I was saying earlier. This video from what I was told was made in 1989 before they knew the illegal improvised modification that I mentioned. Can't believe that BATF goofed though for so many years. They should have asked some engineering students who would have come up with an answer (modification) within days.Pre early 90's semi auto rifles would be far more likely to be able to be modified.
Thanks, a good general rule of thumb is that no semi-automatic weapon made after 1986 can be legally be converted to full auto. The Chinese and Asian imported AK's ,such as the Norinco made in the late 1980's to mid 1990's , had manufacturing defects in them where they could be easily converted with the methods that you describe. This is exactly why they are no longer legal to import to the US. They however, are grandfathered and you may keep them in most states if you have one.
If one disabled the sear from locking the hammer, the hammer since it has much less mass than the combined bolt, extractor and firing pin would merely follow the slower heavier mass forward moving bolt, extractor and firing pin which would bleed off the force of the hammer and not have sufficient force to shock the primer with the firing pin.F=MA.The springed hammer has forward motion faster than the combined bolt, extractor and firing pin.
Oh my bad there is only one moron -mrkanker1- I'll bet you are from the UK. That would qualify you as an expert since you cannot even own a gun. Likely you're just some trolling moron so would someone else with some amount of intellegence come forward to promote a civil discussion.
Both of you retarded trolls move along now! I own 10 guns-3 shotguns, 4 rifles-including 1 AR15 and 3 handguns.Ihave been shooting guns for 30 years. NO,NO,NOOOOO! BTW that is "sear" pin not "seer", your stupidity is clearly confirmed. Learn to spell,it is a valuable skill and distinguishes the intelligent from idiots like you two.
