The bar is set here. What a truly unflappable performance!

Amazing version! Many singers have sung this very well, but Thomas Allen makes it sounds effortless and easy. Even the other great singers tend to sound like they are having to make a huge effort to get this right. Peter Mattei sang this brilliantly at the Met a few years ago, but it sounded like it was very hard work even for him! Tom sails through it with no problem.

SUPERB
I love this man's voice so much. He doesn't have a forced "woofy" sound like others, and his top notes are spectacular.
Sir Thoman Allen: "Excuse me whilst I sing this high G. LA! Okay, now lets move on... oh wait, you want me to sing it again? OK, no big deal."
Amazing.

The best non-woofy baritone performance (even less woofy than this performance) is Peter Mattei singing in 2007. Though I have to admit this is wonderful to listen to.
