@Songsmirth google UESPwiki, and type in the quest your having trouble with. It'll give you a thorough walkthrough of the quest. When you level up enemies level up with you, there are 60 gates in total. You do not have to close everyone of them, only the ones that are mentioned in the main quest. Direction doesn't affect how easy or hard the gates are, it's completely random.

@GuessMyUsernameYT like i said my way you can level up two skills at once. so it doesnt matter if it dissappears and so what if it attacks you back? then you are leveling up 3 to 4 skills. their armor and possibly block.

summon scamp will attack back/ disapear too quickly and costs magic. This is for those who are only interested in assualt skills
-
Or one can just buy the skill summon scamp. And level two skills at once.
-

awesome music choice. COB is epic

@rebal0devil Or install Francesco's mod, that caps the level of the vast majority of creatures.

There are horses... just saying.

Thank god that there is a mute button...
WARNING!! For anyone looking to try this, DO NOT exceed level 70 for your blade skill. Every single time I tried to save my game once I reached level 70 it immediately froze up. I don't know if it's due to a recent patch or the fact that my character is only at level 7, but I hope it doesn't continue doing this after my blade level goes up on its own. (Xbox 360 version)

@FreakinSweet1987 sleep in a bed and actually level up as often as you can to avoid that from happening.

@rebal0devil Actually I had tried that. It turned out the problem is a well-known glitch called unreported assaults. Basically it's where you beat up on civilians too long without paying any gold fines. All I had to do was beat up a guard, pay the fine, then it basically fixed itself.
You may want to put that in the description since this video pertains to beating up NPCs.

@FreakinSweet1987 yea, that was my second guess, glad you figured it out. I'll make an annotation about it.
